"Hi friends, Inspector Barnaby here. My foster mom named me after the detective in a TV show because she said I am very nosy. I don't know what that means, but I do know that I like to keep up with my people and the other cats and know what everyone is doing at all times, and help them if I can! I was found by a nice lady with my litter mates under someone's house, and CARE was kind enough to take me in when I needed a foster home. This new foster home is cool, there are all sorts of people, cats, kittens, and dogs coming and going, it keeps me busy! I enjoy playing with the other kitties and dogs and I am very people oriented. I'll lay on your chest and purr and purr. My foster mom says I'm special, but I think I'm just a happy kitty that needs someone to love."
My goodness, this kitty is such a joy to have as part of our foster family! He knows no enemies, he is the happiest of kitties who makes us laugh all day. He loves every creature and person he meets, has excellent litter box habits, and is such a playful guy. He is a smart cookie and very quickly mastered every kitty toy in the house. He is a true snuggle bug and will happily snuggle in the bed with you all night long. He's a great lap kitty too. Sometimes I find him asleep in our bed during the day, under the covers with his head on the pillow! We think he's about 6-9 months old, so he's still a kitten but growing up too.
Barnaby recently joined the CARE family and he is a special needs kitty. He has cerebellar hypoplasia, which is a developmental disorder that results in the cerebellum being underdeveloped. This occurs when the mom cat is undernourished or exposed to certain illnesses while she's carrying the kittens. The cerebellum is the part of the brain that controls movement, balance, and coordination. This mild disorder is not contagious, doesn't affect mental capacity, and doesn't require any treatment, it just means that Barnaby is wobbly and falls down as he's moving around. He doesn't know any different, and he can walk, run, jump up on the chair or the bed and jump off again, stalk the other cats, chase his ball at top speed, so he can do pretty much anything any other cat can do. He's just a bit uncoordinated while he's on the move, especially when he gets distracted.
Barnaby is looking for a forever home that will keep him safe and loved. He needs to be an indoor only cat, as it would not be safe for him to ever go outside. He needs to be kept away from tall flights of stairs, and shorter cat trees are probably a good idea. He would love a home with other cats to play with, as he's very social and has good social skills with cats and cat-friendly dogs. He should not need any extra medical care, but will need to have regular visits with his vet just like any other cat. Barnaby is FIV and FeLV negative. This is one special dude and he will keep you laughing! Please submit an adoption application if you think you may be a good match for this handsome fellow.
