Riley is a sweet and even-tempered German Shepherd Dog. He is small in size for the breed; he weighs about 60 pounds. He is very intelligent and is well-behaved. He gets along very well with his three foster dog siblings and with the two cats. Riley enjoys walks and is good on a leash. He rides well in a car too. He is house trained and currently uses a dog door to access a fenced in yard where he can do his business and play with the other dogs. Riley is also good in a crate or a kennel as long as he has something to keep him entertained and he is not kept kenneled for too long.

Riley came to CARE from the shelter after having been a stray for quite some time. He was malnourished and also tested positive for heartworms. He also appeared to have an old injury to his tail and right front leg which caused him stiffness. He has been treated for the heartworms, neutered, given proper veterinary attention, and good nutrition to include joint health supplements. He is now thriving, happy, and healthy. He is eager to find his forever home so he can be the wonderful companion and family member he was meant to be. Any children in the family should be over the age of eight. Riley would do best with another dog in the family and a fenced in yard. He will need daily moderate but not excessive exercise and will need to stay on joint supplements.
