Meet Luna the Chiweenie!

Luna is a sweet, rambunctious little ball of energetic love.  She entered foster care after her owners surrendered her with two other dogs at the local shelter.  She is believed to be about 1 year old and is very good with other dogs and cats.  Luna would thrive in a household with a playful canine sibling to romp and cuddle with.

Luna wants to be where her people are.  She is happy to play in a fenced yard but gets bored and will want to rejoin her human and canine companions if she is outside on her own for more than a few minutes.  She is an avid sock hunter – if you have a population of free-range socks that needs managing, she will dutifully gather them for you!

It is very important to know that while Luna has never attempted to bite anyone during her time with her foster family, she is frightened of some men.  Those with beards and deep voices are most frightening for her.  In the presence of a person she is frightened of, she may become protective (growling and barking).  As such, any man in her new family system must be included in the introduction/assessment process and will need to be motivated to build a relationship of trust with her.

Luna is doing well with her crate and potty training.  She can sit on command and is recently spayed and microchipped.  Vaccines and preventative medications are up to date.  A forever home will be committed to continuing her routine medical care, training, and will provide routine exercise and appropriate nutrition to support healthy weight, as her breed is prone to back issues if allowed to become overweight.  No children under the age of 10 years, please.  Ideal applicants will work from home or be away from home no more than a couple of hours per day.

Please know that CARE does not adopt to homes who utilize underground electric fencing.  Luna’s foster family will work diligently to screen applicants and strive to respond to all applications within 72 hours. Please be patient as we work to find the very best home possible for Luna!
