Small Dog and Lhasa Experience Preferred

Yep, Meet Leo!  This 20lb Lhasa Apso pupper will not only steal your heart, but your shoes as well!!

Leo came from a rural shelter as a stray and had so much matted fur that his nickname was "Moppy."  He could not see, he had matted fur all the way to his skin and was extremely painful from his poor coat condition and neglect.  He had no fur on his rear end and had horribly inflamed skin.

The first few weeks in his foster home, he was pretty shut down and had no personality to speak of, but that diva personality finally came roaring out and the world had to take a step back!

Like a typical Lhasa, Leo is cautious with strangers, but once he knows you, you cannot keep him out of your lap and away from your face...kisses and licks galore from this kid!  He enjoys his daily walks about the neighborhood, loves eating and enjoys his crate.  He does great with calm and laid back cats and has even been known to clean his 18 yr old foster kitty sisters ears for her.  His favorite things are his toys, his foster mom and dad and roughhousing with his 50lb foster sister Hazel.  He's even been known to help keep his foster mom and dad motivated during their daily exercise and helps to add an additional 20lb of doggy weight as needed!

Leo will do best with an experienced owner who understands the small breed personality and especially Lhasa's, and he will require a home where all children are 12 and older due to his smaller size.  Leo will excel in a home where his family are not gone long hours, where he has structure and an exercise outlet. He is not for a first time or inexperienced dog owner.  A sister pup to play with would be grand, but isn't required, as he adores being the center of all the human attention.  Leo can have a bit of a slow warm up to strange dogs, but enjoys playtime once he gets to know them and will require patient, slow, proper and calm introduction.

Due to the trauma and neglect Leo has experienced in the past, a regular 6-8 week grooming is mandatory for the length of his life.  An experienced but compassionate and patient groomer will be ideal for him and all his future grooming needs.  Leo had surgery to repair a cherry eye and may periodically require lubricating eye drops/gel, which can be bought OTC.  

Leo will require a physical fence (not invisible fencing) in his new home, as he enjoys running through the yard doing zoomies on a regular basis and the fence will help to keep him safe from harm.   Leo is up-to-date on all vaccinations, is neutered, heartworm negative and receives monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
